Here is the paternal lineal descent for Norman Keegel as attested to by D.V. Altendorff of the Dutch Burgher Society of (then) Ceylon :-

I. Johannes Gustavus Keegel born at Gross Sommerda in Thuringen, near Weimar, married 10th April 1763 Maria Elizabeth Stuurman of Great Schormer.

II. Their son, Christoffel Gerardus Keegel married 18th April 1790, Ester Dulcina Brochet de la Tonperse, widow of Captain-Lieutenant Jean Francoise Even du Hil, born 1753, died 7th September 1787, and daughter of Johannes Louis Brochet de la Tonperse of Metz and Ursula Magdalena Otley.

III. Their son, Isidore Keegel born 1791, had a son, Frederick Keegel who married at Jaffna on 8th December 1841 Nancy de Lile.

IV. Their son John Richard Keegel born 25th December 1842 married in the Methodist Church, Negombo, 26th November 1874 Helen Louisa Pereira.

V. Their son Norman Alexander Keegel, born 16th October 1882, married in St. Paul's Church, Pettah, Colombo, 7th September 1905 Muriel Henrietta de Zylva born 26th November 1883, daughter of John William de Zylva and Sarah Kelaart.

VI. Their son Albert Esmond Earle Keegel born 15th April 1910, died 7th June 1999 married at the Methodist Church, Kandy, 29th October 1934, Emma Phoebe Roberts born about 1912, died 2004.

VII. Their son Norman Keegel born 24th May 1939.
